Mike has been an extreme back country skier for many years. He lived in Glacier WA and skied the Northern
Cascades back country. He also spent many years skiing Mt Hood (Oregon) and the Wasatch Mountains (Alta) in Utah.
Mike was also a dedicated environmentalist and member of the Sierra Club, He often got frustrated with what he
saw as too much corporate greed and disregard for nature.

One caller in December said he met Mike in Costa Rica (someone from a "western state" who skied) and that he was heading to
Panama.
